Bluefinger is located right next to Lumen Hotel & Events in Zwolle. As part of this all-in-one location, the kitchen team provides breakfast, lunch, dinner, and catering for PEC Zwolle home games and events at the event center. Bluefinger was recently the first restaurant in Overijssel to become an Ambassador of the Biodiversity on your Plate program by Dutch Cuisine.

Biodiversity on your Plate supports farmers and fishermen who positively contribute to the preservation and restoration of biodiversity. This is done by promoting their products in the hospitality and catering industry. Hospitality businesses and caterers can participate in this national program as a Supporter, Partner, or Ambassador if they adhere to certain rules. In return, they receive various benefits.

Bluefinger as a frontrunner

Enabled by the province of Overijssel and in collaboration with hospitality wholesaler BidFood, various hospitality frontrunners in Zwolle are currently working to comply with these rules. Bluefinger was the first to succeed. The focus is particularly on using biodiversity-friendly products from Overijssel. Hospitality guests can consciously choose biodiversity-friendly dishes and thus contribute to more nature and a more beautiful landscape.  Chef Julian Kamp of Bluefinger says: "When we were approached for the program, I was immediately enthusiastic. I have always been an advocate of sourcing biodiversity-friendly produced products from the region and immediately saw the potential in this."

Also the first hotel nationally

Nationally, various hotels are currently exploring participation in the program or are already working to implement the rules. The Bluefinger connected to Lumen is also the first hotel in the Netherlands to participate in Biodiversity on your Plate. This is important for Dutch Cuisine. It makes it clear to hotels that participation is both practically feasible and commercially attractive. Julian Kamp continues: "I am proud that we achieved the highest participation level in the program right from the first assessment. At the same time, we see it as a challenge to maintain this and to come up with the most bio-diverse possible offering with each new menu. Together with the team, we enthusiastically embrace this challenge!"
