Who are actually responsible for those perfectly set tables and serving the most beautiful dishes and matching wines? In this section, we put our hospitality stars in the spotlight! Today it's the turn of service staff member Lisa!
When and how did you realize you wanted to work in hospitality?
"A friend from hockey already worked at Lumen and said it was very fun and enjoyable work, and that's when I started working in hospitality."
Can you tell us more about your background?
"I first did the beautician training. However, I always thought it would be fun to work in hospitality and organize things, so that's why I then did the Leisure & Hospitality training. In addition, I have now been working at Lumen Hotel & Events for a year."
When are you satisfied with your work? What gives you energy and where do you find satisfaction?
"I am satisfied with my work when the guests go home with a good feeling. I try to contribute to this by listening carefully to their wishes and meeting them, and regularly asking if I can do anything else for them."
What makes it fun for you to work at Lumen / Bluefinger?
"The team is very fun and you can learn a lot here. For example, I have learned to stand in front of large groups, to stand up for myself, and that it's okay to make mistakes."
And what do you like to do in your free time?
"In my free time, I like to play hockey and exercise. I also enjoy having drinks with friends and family."
In which restaurant would you absolutely want to eat again and why?
"I don't have a specific restaurant where I would like to eat again, I just enjoy eating at small cozy places."
What are you proud of?
"Obtaining my MBO diploma."
In what area would you like to further develop yourself?
"The training I am following. During my internship here, I also shadowed at the reception, and I would like to learn more about that."
What advice would you give to someone considering working in a restaurant or pursuing a hospitality education?
"Just do it, if it's not for you, you can always stop."
